For Substack book reviews, I usually read mystery, thriller, detective, sci-fi, adventure, and some older fantasy. I usually do older books, because I like the freedom to give spoilers and occasionally say mean things, without hurting the author's feelings. (I do also read a lot of indie books and leave short Amazon reviews, but probably wouldn't use one for a Substack book review.)
